Rob Lyman is a retired Brigadier General of the U.S. Air Force, with almost three decades of experience in cyberspace operations, logistics, and special operations. He is widely respected as an inspirational and transformational leader. As a senior cyber and national security executive he has been recognized at local, national, and international levels.
During his military career, he served as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Cyber Effects Operations on the Headquarters Air Force staff at the Pentagon, where he was responsible for the development of over 36,000 cyber professionals and for integrating U.S. Air Force air, space and cyberspace operations capabilities with other military services and the Combatant Commands. He also served as Chief Information Officer, among other roles, at United States Transportation Command, Joint Special Operations Command, Air Mobility Command, and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. He has significant senior leadership experience having commanded at multiple levels, including as the Commander of Joint Base Charleston where he supported the U.S. Army’s busiest port, the U.S. Air Force’s busiest airfield, and the U.S. Navy’s nuclear power training pipeline.
Rob has broad experience in strategic risk mitigation, to include deep cybersecurity and digital transformation leadership, strategy development, talent management, internal controls and audit, crisis response and resiliency, and global operations. He was selected as a White House Fellow and served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation during his fellowship year.
